When should I book my maternity session?
It's ideal to have your maternity photoshoot in the early portion of your 3rd trimester, when you have a fairly sizeable bump, but your baby has not dropped down too far. I encourage you to reserve your maternity, gender reveal, and newborn portrait session before or during your 2nd trimester.
What should I wear?
The most important thing to consider when choosing which outfit to wear for your maternity photoshoot is comfort! You'll want to chose clothes that fit well and draw attention to your shape.  Your clothes should not be too tight because you'll want to be able to move around easily. Your clothes should also not be so loose that you find yourself having to readjust them often.
You can test your outfit out to make sure it's a good fit. Lift your knee towards your belly, then see if there is still enough material to pinch around the thigh and knee are of your outfit. Do the same to test the arm and shoulder area.
Here are a few outfit styles that I find to work well for maternity portraits:
A dress or blouse with an Empire Waist is fitted just below the bust to define the curvy shape of a pregnant belly. This is a style I always recommend to a Mom that is worried that her baby bump isn't prominent enough.
Long and Flowy Floor Length Dresses beautifully outline a pregnant silhouette.
Off shoulder blouses and dresses are an elegant touch and add an extra touch of femininity.

A sheer fabric is a flattering way to define and emphasize pregnancy curves. Busy patterns and multi-colored designs may draw attention away from the belly. For maternity portrait outfits I recommend sheer or light weight clothing with a simple pattern to emphasize your shape rather than hide it.
